Summer in Roero heats up the hills, turning the vineyards a vibrant green; the midday hours invite you to seek the shade, whilst the evenings stretch on late into the night.
It’s the season of slow sunsets, dinners amongst the vineyards and outdoor music. Everything invites you to stay outdoors, to stroll, to sit with a glass in hand and wait for the sun to dip behind the hills.
Nature and landscape
The Rocche in summer, between dawn and dusk
In summer, the paths of the Rocche del Roero are best explored at dawn or dusk, when the morning and evening light enhances the colours of the sandy cliffs and opens up views of the Langhe. The woods are lush, the paths silent.
The ‘Notturni nelle Rocche‘ (Moonlight Walks in the Rocche), every Tuesday and Friday from June to July and in September, take hikers and families through the woods by moonlight, accompanied by guides and activities organised by the Ecomuseo delle Rocche del Roero. It’s one of the area’s most unique summer experiences.
Roero can also be explored by e-bike, discovering a wider territory with less effort. The Valle delle Rocche Outdoor Centre in Montà offers e-bike rentals and guided cycling tours.

Food and Wine
Summer flavours in Roero
Summer begins with the last strawberries from Sommariva Perno – the season ends in June – and continues with the peaches of Canale, one of the Roero’s finest produce: sweet, fragrant, and picked just a few kilometres from our farm. The Canale Peach Fair, held between late July and early August, is one of the region’s most eagerly awaited events, featuring a market, tastings and celebrations in the centre of Canale.
As for the wine, summer calls for Arneis: the fresh, fragrant white wine of Roero, a native grape variety, enjoyed cold and a perfect pairing for the season’s light dishes and local cured meats. In September, with the arrival of the grape harvest, some local wineries open their doors to wine tourists to share with them the most eagerly awaited moment of the year.

The Roero Music Fest and Guarene Musica bring jazz and chamber music concerts to the town squares of the region between July and August, in historic and scenic locations across the UNESCO-listed hills.
