At Cascina Ponchietta, sustainability stems from practical choices, some of which have been in place for years and form part of the day-to-day management of the farm and our hospitality in Roero.
We are in the heart of Roero, a region recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site alongside the Langhe and Monferrato.
Organic wines and the respect for the rhythms of nature
Our wines have been certified organic since 2022. This is not an end in itself, but the result of a journey that began long before by eliminating synthetic pesticides, working the soil in a way that preserves its structure and respecting the rhythms of the seasons without forcing them.
Farming organically means taking care of a land that belongs to everyone.

Energy from the sun
Since 2016, the farm has been generating electricity using a photovoltaic system. We also use solar thermal panels to heat the water in the swimming pool changing rooms, thereby reducing energy consumption associated with hospitality.
Sustainable mobility, on and off the farm
Since 2025, our guests have had access to charging points for electric cars and e-bikes. You can charge your vehicles during your stay and set off to explore Roero at your own pace and emission-free: the paths through the vineyards, the villages and the local wineries are all accessible by e-bike.
No single-use plastic
In our communal areas and at breakfast, we avoid single-use plastic as much as we can; where this isn’t possible, we opt for biodegradable materials. The products we use to prepare breakfast come mainly from local farms and small local shops.
We have removed single-use bottles from the rooms: shampoo and shower gel are provided in refillable dispensers. To clean the rooms and communal areas, we mainly use products from a company that adopts responsible production criteria and is located just a few kilometres from here. Outdoor lighting is LED. We try to keep printing to a minimum.
You too can contribute during your stay
Waste sorting has been part of Cascina Ponchietta’s day-to-day operations for many years. On arrival, we will show you where the bins are: we ask you to use them to help us respect the environment around us.
We also invite you to be mindful when requesting a change of sheets and towels: replacing them only when you really need to helps reduce the use of water and detergents.
